Newborn Screening and Examination

There are some indicators within Public Health Outcomes Framework relating to tests and examinations of newborn babies including the 'bloodspot screening' (an indicator for phenylketonuria), hearing test and physical examination, althouigh data are not yet available for analysis.

Noise

Non-cancer Screening

Nursing Care / Nursing Care Homes

The number of local authority supported permanent admissions to residential care, nursing care and adult placements is given in the JSNA Toolkit.

The Projecting Older People Population Information (POPPI) System provides population projections for people aged 65+ years for 2011, 2015, 2020, 2025 and 2030 (i.e. predictive modelling). It provides various estimates of the number of people aged 65+ years in Hull are predicted to have specific health needs including numbers requiring nursing care. These estimates are available in tHull JSNA Toolkit: Older People.

The number of deaths occurring at homes and other locations including at hospital and in nursing homes is given within the JSNA Toolkit. See also Mortality.

Older People

Information relating to people aged 65+ years is given in the JSNA Toolkit throughout the document, but there is also a section specifically on older people which includes information on fractured neck of femurs and prediction of health needs from POPPI. The Projecting Older People Population Information (POPPI) System provides population projections for people aged 65+ years for 2011, 2015, 2020, 2025 and 2030. It provides various estimates of the number of people aged 65+ years in Hull are predicted to have specific health needs such as the numbers predicted to be in care homes, who have diabetes, who are obese, who are incontinent, etc. These estimates are available in Hull JSNA Toolkit: Older People.

There are also a number of indicators relating to people aged 65+ years within the Public Health Outcomes Framework and further analysis is given within the Public Health Outcomes Framework Main Report (to open this report on a particular PHOF indicator, click here) and Public Health Outcomes Framework Summary. These indicators are:

Emergency hospital admissions for falls injuries
Uptake of pneumococcal polysaccharide vaccine (PPV)
Influenza vaccine uptake
New certifications of visual impairment due to age related macular degeneration
Emergency hospital admission for fractured neck of femur

Oral Health

An Oral Health Needs in Hull Summary 2015 has been produced, summarising information available from the Yorkshire and Humber Oral Health Needs Assessment, as well as from Hull JSNA Toolkit: Dental Health. This has been prepared to inform and complenent Hull's Oral Health Action Plan 2015-2020.

The time since the last dental visit has been collected in most of the Adult and Young People Health and Lifestyle Surveys and is summarised within Hull JSNA Toolkit: Dental Health and described within the main reports as follows:

Outcome Measures

A number of indicators, outcome measures and targets have been used previously. Details of these historical (although some as also indicators within the Public Health Outcomes Framework) indicators and progress towards targets is given within the JSNA Toolkit.

Information relating to the indicators within the Public Health Outcomes Framework (PHOF) are incorporated into the JSNA Toolkit. However, some of the indicators are prone to change slightly, and the local PHOF documents use the latest definitions. Where data are available (which either matched the definitions or was similar to the definition), it is presented within the JSNA Toolkit.
